Milicevic Family Vineyards started back in 1950 in Hercegovina. Ivan Milicevic worked his young life on his family owned vineyards until he moved to this country in 1989. After he became a successful business owner of a company in Covington, Louisiana, he decided to pursue his dream of starting a vineyard of his own.
A NEW BEGINNING
In 2014, Ivan purchased land in Abita Springs, Louisiana and planted his first grapes in April of 2015. Among the grapes he has planted are Blatina and Zilavka which only exist in Hercegovina and now Abita Springs, Louisiana. His goal is to produce the best wine from "from our vineyards to your table".
ALL ANIMALS HAVE A JOB
NATURAL AS POSSIBLE
We try to keep the process of growing our grapes as natural as possible. On our farm and vineyard in Abita Springs, we have a love for our animals. They are all named and each have a job. The herd of Angus cows maintain and graze the pasture while giving us free fertilizer for the grapes. Our flock of geese and ducks go through the vineyard all day feeding off of bugs and grass. While our Purple Martin houses scattered throughout the property provide homes for these insect loving birds. While our three sweet donkeys are our alert system and protectors for our sheep while both provide us with plenty of entertainment.
